Interactions between herpesvirus and the central nervous system. Herpesvirus type 1 (HSV-1) crosses synapses and propagates in the nervous system along nervous pathways and therefore is a potential vector for the delivery of genes to the CNS. A research project investigates the possibility of addressing with HSV-1 genes to treat brain tumours in an animal model. The bovine herpesvirus type 4 does not propagate in the CNS but infects stem |
| cells in the brain. A research project aims at exploring whether this virus can be used as a vector for brain tumours. |
