Decompression sickness. Decompression sickness is a risk in the practice of underwater sports. A research project studies the interaction between physical exercise and decompression sickness in an animal model.

Pulmonary circulation. We study the respiratoy apparatus both during the spontaneus ventilation and during the artificial ventilation. Experiments are mainly lead on anesthetized rats and focused on the effecs of relevant variables such as compliance, resistance, hysteresis; consequently we collect data about respiratory system and its components. We also investigate pulmonary circulation, idraulic resistence in different conditions and resistence divided into its subcomponents (arterial, capillary and venosa). Finally our studies are based on the relationship between pulmonary circulation and respiratory mechanics, quantyfing the effects of different emodinamical conditions on foundamental parameters of respiratory mechanics.
